ROD HOLDER AND PROJECTION TYPE VIDEO DISPLAY UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod holder which can make an optical axis center of a taper type rod integrator in accord with an illumination optical axis as much as possible even when sufficient precision of the shape is not assured in the taper type rod integrator and to provide a projection type video display unit provided with the rod holder. SOLUTION: A guiding protrusion 22 is formed on a base plate 21 in a direction parallel to the illumination optical axis. Moreover a fixed side supporting member 23 is provided on the base plate 21. A 1st opening 23a is formed at a rising part of the fixing side supporting member 23. A sliding supporting member 24 is provided on the base plate 21. A 2nd opening 24a is formed at a rising part of the sliding supporting member 24. When a light entrance side of a taper rod 12 is made to pass in the 2nd opening 24a and the sliding supporting member 24 is moved along the guiding protrusion 22, the sliding supporting member 24 stops at a predetermined position and the sliding supporting member 24 is fixed at this position.
