PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner that opens/closes an inlet in an upper front of a body by means of a hinged cover in accordance with air intake, while ensuring a sophisticated design, and enables an accurate stepwise view of an indicator part for indicating operation information. SOLUTION: For an increased air intake from inlets 2 in the upper front and top of the body 1, a drive motor 8 and a driving link 9 turn the hinged cover 7 to separate an upper portion of the hinged cover from a front panel 1a, so that air is admitted into the upper front inlet 2 and that the indicator part 14 in a lower portion of the front panel covered by the hinged cover 7 is visible. For the removal or attachment of a filter 6, the driving link is turned further to separate a lower end of the turned hinged cover from the front panel with an abutting contact element 11.
