992,950. Thermal switches; couplings. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. June 5, 1961 [June 6, 1960], No. 20252/61. Headings H2B and H2E. A switch comprises a snapacting thermal member which is adjustably interconnected to a bridging contact which is biased in a direction away from the thermal member. As shown, the thermal member comprises a bimetallic disc 22 carrying by a screwed rod 26 on which is threaded an insulating sleeve 42 loosely carrying the bridging contact 52 which co-operates with fixed contacts 60, 62. The lower face 92 of a head 50 of sleeve 42 is curved and the upper face of contact 52 is curved transversely thereof, so that the contact is self-aligning under the control of a biasing spring 84. The head 50 of sleeve 42 has lateral lugs 116, 118 engaged in guide slots 120, 122 in the casing 10. Couplings.-The disc 22 is connected in a circuit by flexible wires 100, 102, which are crimped to caps 210 which are welded to rivets 204 in turn welded at points 206 to the disc 22. |
