The invention relates to airplane floor assemblies and to methods for their assembly. At least one system component 22 is installed to a floor section 10 prior to installation of the floor section 10 in the fuselage of the airplane, eg when outside the fuselage section. Three floor sections may be provided forward, middle and aft, respectively. The system components 22 may be flight controls or seats installed above the floor or they may be electrical boxes 50, ducts or wires 52 installed between floor beams 14 below the floor 12 and above access door(s) 48. The floor 12 may comprise a low-density structural core (30, fig.) and a high-density core (32) located between skins (26, 28) and separated by a septum (34). The height of the fuselage may be greater than its width to allow installation of each floor sections 10 eg by orienting the floor section vertically within the fuselage and then rotating it into a horizontal position. |
