GPS navigation device having touch screen display

A portable GPS navigation device (41) includes a GPS receiver and a touch screen display, in which all navigation functions are activated using the touch screen and the only hard control button that a user can press in normal operation is an on/off button. The touch screen displays a navigation mode screen that shows the current location of the device on a map; the user can navigate to a navigation screen menu by touching the touch screen. The user can initiate or control other navigation functions by touching the navigation screen menu. The device (41) may additionally comprise a concealed hard reset button, and internal aerial, and means for connecting the device to an external aerial.
