METHOD OF DENITRIFYING MOLTEN STEEL

A molten steel is produced in an electric furnace from iron scraps as the main iron source and transferred to a refining vessel. Thereafter, a substance containing aluminum metal and CaO are added to the surface of the molten steel and an oxygen-containing gas is supplied to this molten steel, whereby denitrification proceeds based on an AlN formation reaction. Thus, even when the molten steel has a low carbon concentration, low-nitrogen steel can be produced at low cost.
