PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing device and method by which a user can easily comprehend overall video recording reservation information only by viewing an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) on one recording/reproducing device and system resources can efficiently be utilized by acquiring the video recording reservation information and EPG data from another recording/reproducing device in a state where a plurality of recording/reproducing devices are connected. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing device 20<SB>i</SB>comprises: a CPU 21<SB>i</SB>; a RAM 22<SB>i</SB>; a ROM 23<SB>i</SB>; a network connection means 24<SB>i</SB>; another machine identification information storage means 25<SB>i</SB>; a video recording reservation information storage means 26<SB>i</SB>; an EPG data storage means 27<SB>i</SB>; a video recording file storage means 28<SB>i</SB>; and an interface means 30<SB>i</SB>. The CPU 21<SB>i</SB>functions at least as another machine connection determination means, a reservation information transmitting means, an EPG data transmitting means, a reservation information receiving means, an EPG data receiving means and an EPG picture creating means by a video recording reservation information sharing program stored in the ROM 23<SB>i</SB>.
