The method involves initiating an operation of authenticating a network unit (N1) at an access unit (SW) and transmitting an authentication request by the access unit. The authentication request is received by the network unit and is forwarded to another network unit (N2). The latter network unit responds to the authentication request with a response message that is forwarded to the access unit via the former network unit. An independent claim is also included for a network unit for connection to an access unit. |
