PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key telephone system capable of bringing a plurality of speech units provided to a key telephone slave unit into a speech available state by utilizing a plurality of extension speech paths. SOLUTION: The key telephone system 1 includes: a master unit connected to a telephone network; a key telephone slave unit contained in the master unit via lines capable of establishing the extension speech paths and to which the speech units can be connected; a utilizing state storage means for storing a utilizing state of the extension speech paths; a speech unit selection means for allowing a user to select any of the speech units; and a speech control means for allowing the speech unit selected by the speech unit selection means on the basis of the utilizing state to utilize any of available extension speech paths.
