PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress decrease in luminance, a color reproduction range, and the like caused by increasing a black insertion rate. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises a plurality of pixels PX, and drive control circuits CNT, 10, 20 which periodically convert non-video signals displaying gradations near the minimum value and video signals displaying gradations from the minimum value up to the maximum value into pixel voltages and make the plurality of liquid crystal pixels PX hold the pixel voltages, respectively. The drive control circuits CNT, 10, 20 includes a voltage adjusting part 32 which adjusts the pixel voltage range corresponding to the video signals so as to increase the maximum transmittance of each pixel PX when increasing a holding period of the pixel voltage corresponding to the non-video signal to a holding period of the pixel voltage corresponding to the video signal.
