PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens system having a blur correction function with a high variable power ratio and high resolution, and to provide a lens barrel that has a short entire length and low entire height when stored, and to provide an imaging apparatus and a thin, compact camera. SOLUTION: By changing two or more intervals of a plurality of lens groups, an object image is formed so that magnification is continuously variable. One of the lens groups, one of lens elements, or the adjacent lens elements of one lens group is moved in a direction vertical to an optical axis. The zoom lens system includes, in order from the object side: a first lens group with positive power; a second lens group with negative power having a lens element with a reflecting surface; a third lens group with positive power; and a fourth lens group with positive power. The zoom lens system satisfies the following conditions: 1.00<-(1-m2T)×m3T×m4T<2.00 (where m2Tis the magnification of the second lens group at the telephoto end, with a photographing distance∞, m3Tis the magnification of the third lens group at the telephoto end, with a photographing distance∞, and m4Tis the magnification of the fourth lens group at the telephoto end, with a photographing distance∞).
