摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damage detector and a damage detection method, which determine a crack at a higher speed by using a nondestructive inspection method for three-dimensionally quantifying a damage such as a crack buried in a test body, or a crack exposed to its surface, or thickness reduction of the test body, with an optional aspect ratio and slope given thereto. SOLUTION: This damage detector and its method for detecting a damage occurring in the test body, is equipped with: an energizing means energizing an inspection area on the test body to bring the area to a prescribed energized state; a voltage measurement means measuring a potential difference across a prescribed space in the inspection area; and an analysis means analyzing the existence of a damage and its shape, based on a plurality of potential difference data acquired by the measurement means. The front surfaces of the test bodies are put into contact with each other to form dual bodies, and further, the rear surfaces of the test bodies are put into contact with each other to form a quadruple body. The analysis means previously assumes a parameter for specifying a fictive damage, and calculates the maximum likelihood estimate value by executing an operation using a maximum likelihood estimation method for the quadruple body, based on the potential difference data.
