SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING PEDESTRIAN SAFETY SERVICE

A pedestrian safety service system and a method thereof are provided to let pedestrians and vehicles exactly recognize approaching of the other side by using the communication network instead of a sensor. A pedestrian safety service system is composed of at least one vehicle terminal(100) forming a vehicle ad-hoc network and providing location information of a vehicle through the vehicle ad-hoc network and a pedestrian terminal connected to the vehicle ad-hoc network to judge risk information including possibility of a collision between the pedestrian and at least one vehicle by receiving location information of at least one vehicle and provide pedestrian safety information to the pedestrian. The vehicle terminal comprises a location measuring unit(104) calculating the location of the vehicle; a communication unit(102) transmitting the location information of the vehicle through the vehicle ad-hoc network and receiving pedestrian position information; an obstacle sensing and judging unit(106) judging a risk and possibility of a collision between own vehicle and the pedestrian by comparing the received pedestrian position information and present location information of the vehicle; a control unit(108) controlling displaying of the pedestrian protection information according to the risk and possibility of a collision between the vehicle and the pedestrian; and a display unit displaying the pedestrian protection information.
