<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device and data transfer device capable of quick data transfer between a volatile memory and a non-volatile memory. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 11 reads onto a data bus 32 bit data (address 0 data and address 1 data) from an SDRAM 7 after putting the SDRAM 7 in an active state and then in a read state, and puts the SDRAM 7 in a pre-charge state. In the pre-charge state of the SDRAM 7, 16 bit data (the address 0 data) on the data bus are written to a flash ROM 8. Then, the SDRAM 7 is put into an active state while the remaining 16 bit data (the address 1 data) on the data bus are written to a flash ROM 9.
