PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin capacitor separator of homogeneous formation having superior electrolyte-and heat-resisting properties, and to provide a capacitor. SOLUTION: The capacitor separator and the capacitor using the separator are comprised of an extended polyethylene terephthalate thread of aspect ratio 150-2,500 having a filament fineness of from 0.003 to 0.5 dtex and a fiber length from 0.5 to 5 mm being used for a main fiber, and a non-extended polyethylene terephthalate thread of aspect ratio 100-1,500 having a filament fineness from 0.1 to 1.5 dtex and a fiber length from 0.5 to 10 mm being used for a binder fiber.
