PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerization catalyst high in catalytic activity and giving a polyester excellent in the transparency of its molded product, and to provide the polyester produced by using the catalyst and a method for producing the polyester. SOLUTION: The polymerization catalyst consists of a solution containing an aluminum compound and a phosphorus compound, wherein the phosphorus compound is a specific one.
