PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that is used on a compact mobile apparatus that achieves low power consumption, even when its displays are not switched for a long time, when a battery or the like is used as a power source, and is capable of reducing the number of components, even when a memory device is provided to a pixel, while maintaining a high aperture ratio. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a memory device in a pixel and achieves low power consumption by not transferring a video signal. Utilizing the voltage retained in the pixel memory of the liquid crystal display panel, the liquid crystal display device generates a signal for alternation drive inside the pixel, executes alternation drive, even when the video signal is not rewritten, and performs displaying without deteriorating liquid crystal.
