PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic that has high moisture holding power of the hair, consequently provides the hair with a soft and moist sense of finish without feeling greasiness and weight, has an excellent feel in use, prevents dryness at a low humidity and has an excellent moist feeling. SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic comprises a fatty acid amidoamine represented by formula (I) R<SP>1</SP>-CO-NH-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-N(R<SP>2</SP>)<SB>2</SB>(R<SP>1</SP>is a straight- or branched-chain 13-23C saturated or unsaturated fatty acid residue; R<SP>2</SP>is a 1-3C alkyl group; n is an integer of 1-5), a higher alcohol containing a 14-24C long-chain alkyl group and a protein hydrolysate of a marine alga of the genus Porphyra or its derivative.
