PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic controller for transmitting detail information relating to the abnormality of an RAM in which data for control are stored to an external device. SOLUTION: This electronic controller detects the abnormality of a backup memory(RAM) in which data for control are stored, and updates abnormality generation frequency history data stored so as to be associated with abnormality generation place history data showing the unique ID of the generation partition of the detected abnormality in the abnormality history storage region of the backup memory, and records the generation frequency of the abnormality (S980). Also, the data in the abnormality history storage region are written in an EEPROM when a power is down so that the abnormality generation frequency can be prevented from being reset even when the onboard battery is detached. Also, the electronic controller is provided with a communication interface capable of communicating with a device outside a vehicle, and configured to transmit the data showing the generation frequency of the abnormality generated in the backup memory to an external device based on the content of the abnormality history recorded by abnormality history recording processing or the like.
