<p>Embodiments of a diatom composition and method for its use in making paper products is described. One embodiment of the disclosed method comprises providing an aqueous pulp composition, typically a pulp composition comprising furnish derived from recycled or waste paper. At least one Melosira diatom, at least oneAulacoseira diatom, or combinations thereof, or a composition comprising such diatom or diatoms, is added to the pulp composition to form a process composition. The diatom(s) can be formulated as a suspension, such as an aqueous composition, prior to addition to the aqueous pulp compositions. The process composition is processed to form a pulp. Desired paper products are formed from the pulp.</p> |
