Internal combustion engine with electromechanical valve drive

An automotive piston engine has cylinder inlet and outlet valves whose opening and closing action is determined by electromechanical means. The valve spring acts to close the valve. The valve is opened and closed by a valve lever over the cylinder head. A further spring supports the valve opening force and acts against the closing spring. The opening and closing action is driven by an electric motor and delivers a force that varies according the position of the opening/closing cycle.
