The invention relates to mining and can be used for prediction of conditions of development of coal seams, in particular for evaluation of place of placement of exhaust-dangerous zones, zones of fall of ceiling rocks in breakage workings and sections of unsatisfactory condition of preparatory workings. A method for prediction of stress condition of sedimentary massif includes geometrization of seam bedding and containing rocks on basis of data of geologic exploration, operational geometrization of seam and including rock bedding on basis of data obtained in process of performance of mining works, and determination of values of main curvatures K1 and K2 of surface in point under consideration for not developed seam section that adjoins the worked-out one, at that additionally to determination of values of main curvature one determines direction of those, after that one directs main normal horizontal stressing tensions and in direction of respective main curvature, with determination of values of those by following dependences: , where and - elastic constants of carrying rocks; - depth of seam placement in point under consideration; - average volumetric weight of containing rocks; - power of layer of containing rocks; and - values of main curvature of surface in point under consideration. The method provides increase of probability of prediction due to possibility of exact evaluation of stress-deformed state of massif, this makes possible to increase safety of implementation of mining operations.
