A method and a system for automatically backing up data of a USB device are provided to automatically back up the data of the USB device without disconnecting and connecting again a cable between the USB device and a host, or manually changing the class of the USB device. A class resetting requestor(120) transmits a class resetting request signal to the USB device(200) according to a recognition result, which represents that the mass storage class is not set to the USB device. A resetting executor(130) resets the host by a response signal of the USB device according to the class resetting request signal. A class recognizer(110) recognizes the class of the USB device as the mass storage device. A backup part(140) backs up the data stored in the USB device to the host(100). The USB device includes a response signal generator(220), a class resetting part(230) resetting the class of the USB device to the mass storage class in response to the reset signal, and an information transmitter(210) transmitting the class information to the host.
