FIELD: heat treatment of parts. ^ SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes supporting surface for holding part in working position and tube system with group of outlet openings for supplying cooling gas and additional cooling agent from source. At quenching parts cooling gas is directed onto part surface. Cooling gas contains at least first component being gas at normal conditions of environment and second component being liquid at conditions of environment. Mixture is formed in which content of second component consists 2 - 20 mass % of first fluid content. Flow of such mixture is directed in such a way that it strikes upon surface of forged piece and it is cooled at motion of forged piece. ^ EFFECT: possibility for accurate control of part quenching process, elimination of cracking of forged piece, prevention of residual stresses at further mechanical working of forged pieces. ^ 28 cl, 14 dwg
