PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain enhancement in costs of a data coupler, data rate, power consumption, external electromagnetic noise resistance, channel density or size. SOLUTION: A data coupler (100) includes a substrate (902) whereon an acoustic isolation transformer (200), a transmitter circuit (106) and a receiver circuit (108) are formed. The acoustic isolation transformer (200) is operable to develop an isolated output signal (V<SB>TRAN</SB>) in response to an input signal (V<SB>MOD</SB>). The transmitter (106) receives a data input signal (DATA<SB>IN</SB>) and is coupled to the acoustic isolation transformer (200). The transmitter applies an input signal to the acoustic isolation transformer (200) responsive to a data input signal. The receiver circuit is coupled to the acoustic isolation transformer (200) to receive the isolated output signal (V<SB>TRAN</SB>) and generates a data output signal (DATA<SB>OUT</SB>) responsive to the isolated output signal (V<SB>TRAN</SB>).
