A method for removing sulfur oxide is provided to improve the economical efficiency in desulfurization of exhaust gas, by using brucite slurry so as to perform a desulfurizing process at a higher temperature than an exiting desulfurizing process. Brucite powder is prepared. Brucite slurry is obtained by mixing the brucite powder and water. The brucite slurry is contacted with exhaust gas including sulfur oxide, thereby removing the sulfur oxide from the exhaust gas. When the brucite powder is heated and thermally analyzed at a temperature increase speed of 5°C/min under a nitrogen ambience, a temperature of the brucite power at the maximum pyrolyzing speed is 423±24°C in a main weight reduction region.
