PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce load of a virtual device in backup processing. SOLUTION: The computer system comprises a first storage device, a second storage device, the virtual device, a host computer, a backup section, and an accessible data transfer section. When backup of a virtual storage area provided by the virtual device is required, the backup section acquires map information showing correspondence between the virtual storage area and a first storage area for storing data required to be written into the virtual storage area, and specifies the first storage area of the first storage device corresponding to the virtual storage area required to be backed up based on the acquired map information. The data transfer section transfers a copy of the data stored in the first storage area specified by the backup section to a storage section disposed in the second storage device.
