PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle failure diagnosis device capable of investigating the failed component in detail to study the cause of failure and collecting information for improvement by a vehicle maker or a component supplier after troubleshooting in a shop or the like without increasing costs due to increase in capacity of a memory storage area. SOLUTION: The vehicle failure diagnosis device 1 performs failure diagnosis of vehicle-mounted equipment provided with: a storage means 3 for storing failure diagnosis information of the vehicle-mounted equipment in a memory 4; a reception means 6 for receiving read request signalsα1,α2 or erasure request signalβfrom an external failure reader 5; and a transmission means 6 capable of transmitting failure diagnosis informationδto the external failure reader 5 on the basis of the read request signalsα1,α2 received by the reception means 6. In this case, when the reception means 6 receives the erasure request signalβfrom the external failure reader 5, the storage means 3 turns on an erasure request history flag indicating the reception of the erasure request signalβ, and holds the failure diagnosis information without erasing it.
