PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a projection image display device which is constituted so that a sound can be heard from the direction of a screen being an image display part when an image is projected, even though a speaker as a sound output device is provided to the device main body, and which does not give a feeling of incompatibility to a viewer. SOLUTION: A projector 1 as a projection image display device includes: image projection means such as an optical apparatus 2, a light source 3 and a projection lens 4; and the speaker 6 as a sound outputting means of high directivity. The sound emitting direction of the speaker 6 is nearly aligned with the projecting direction of the projection lens 4 of the projector 1, and the sound with directivity is reflected by the surface of a screen 7 (wall surface) that displays the image projected from the projector 1, and reaches the viewer 8.
