PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head capable of making a temperature distribution in a plane direction of a head substrate uniform by increasing a rising or falling speed of temperature of a heating element on the head substrate, and a thermal printer. SOLUTION: An end section 12 of each of a common electrode wire 6a and a discrete electrode wire 6b to be connected to the heating element 5 has a shape which is formed such that a heat transfer rate from the heating element 5 in a sub-scanning direction "s" at a central section in a main scanning direction "m" is greater than that at the end section in the main scanning direction "m". The connection end section 12 has a flat portion 12a and an inclined portion 12b. The end section in the plane direction including the main scanning direction "m" and the sub-scanning direction "s" is in a square shape having a corner in an arc shape and the cross section thereof perpendicular to the main scanning direction "m" is in a tapered shape.
