<p>A dovetail groove seal, and more particularly, a dovetail groove seal to be installed in a vacuum gate valve. The dovetail groove seal does not roll or come out of the groove even if it is subjected to a load from both left and right directions and to a thrust load. The dovetail groove seal has a closed annular shape. The seal is positioned at a joint between a pair of members opposite each other and is installed in a dovetail groove formed in the surface of one of the members. The dovetail seal seals between the members by being in contact with the other member. In a cross section of the seal, the seal has a bottom face, side projections, projected shoulders, and a seal projection. The bottom face is in contact with the bottom surface of the dovetail groove and has left and right corners having a width that is smaller than the narrowest width of the opening of the groove. The side projections are continuous from the bottom face of the seal, project from the corners of the bottom face to the width direction, and in contact with sloped sides inside the dovetail groove. The projected shoulders are continuous from the side projections, and corners of the projected shoulders are at positions that are closer to the bottom face side of the groove than the positions of the end face on the opening side of the dovetail groove and are closer to the opening of the groove than the narrowest position of the groove. The seal projection is continuous from the projected shoulders, projected upward from the opening of the groove, and, when in contact with the surface of the other member, seals both members.</p> |
