PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus and driving method thereof for obtaining an interlaced image output with frame rates of 60 in a progressive scan system. SOLUTION: In the progressive scan color CCD area sensor having a color filter with an original colors Bayer-arrangement color coding, the solid-state imaging apparatus repeats processing of sweeping out a signal charge read on a horizontal transfer resistor 4 into a discharging part 10 and horizontal-transferring it with the horizontal transfer resistor 4 for each two lines and replaces the lines of sweeping out the signal charge to the discharging part 10 per each field in a monitoring mode. Under a sweeping-out electrode 8 in the discharging part 10, on the other hand, a potential gradient deepening in a direction in which the signal charges in the horizontal transfer resistor 4 are swept out into a drain part 9 is provided.
