PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic field measuring instrument which can magnetically detect the magnetic center line of a solenoid electromagnet with high accuracy and the method used by the instrument. SOLUTION: A magnetic field measuring instrument is provided with a rotating shaft 6 passed through the inside diameter section of a solenoid electromagnet 5, bearing sections 7 which support both end sections of the shaft 6 and, at the same time, are constituted movably in the direction perpendicular to the center axis of the shaft 6, and a supporting base 8 positioned in the magnetic field of electromagnet 5. The instrument is also provided with magnetic field sensors 11 and 12 which are provided on the supporting base 8 in a state where the sensors 11 and 12 can move in the diametral direction against the shaft 6 and measure the magnetic field of the electromagnet 5 in the axial and diametral directions, and an angle adjusting mechanism which adjusts the inclined angles of the sensors 11 and 12 from the axial and diametral directions of the shaft 6.
