The member comprises an inner ring 103 of brass, for example, which has a keyway 105 therein and an outer ring 107 of rubber, for example, which is bonded to the inner ring 103 and is provided with a number of axial ribs 109 and grooves 111. The ribs 109 have outer arcuate surfaces 113 which serve as an intermittent bearing surface and contact a cylindrical surface 99, Fig. 1, of a diffuser-ring 62, for example, of a multi-stage pump. Thus a shaft 15 of the pump is supported at a number of axially-spaced apart positions by means of rings 101 fixed on the shaft and the surfaces 99 of the respective diffuser rings 62.
