PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a driving method and a driver of stepping motor in which the entire drive circuit can be miniaturized, even if a driver IC not having a function for correcting the waveform of excitation voltage is used by altering the pulse interval of a timing pulse arbitrarily at the time of microstep driving, and low vibration operation is ensured by eliminating variation in rotational speed of the stepping motor caused by variation in follow-up operation of a rotor. SOLUTION: The driver of stepping motor comprises a means for applying an excitation voltage to a stepping motor by inputting a timing pulse, a means for controlling driving of the stepping motor, a means for storing pulse timing data which regulates the pulse interval of timing pulse to suppress rotational speed of the stepping motor at every step, and a means for generating a timing pulse based on the timing pulse data in the storage means depending on an operation speed designated by the control means and delivering the timing pulse to the excitation means.
