<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control residual water in a fuel cell system to an appropriate amount by individually obtaining appropriate scavenging hours capable of scavenging the residual water inside a fuel cell and in a fuel cell system path. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell system includes the fuel cell main body which is constituted by laminating single cells for having formed electrodes respectively on the front and back surfaces of an electrolyte membrane, with a gas supply passage for supplying gas to the electrodes of the fuel cell main body, with a gas exhaust passage for exhausting the gas from the electrodes of the fuel cell main body, with a gas circulation passage for connecting the gas exhaust passage to the gas supply passage, with a gas drive means for circulating the gas in the gas exhaust passage to the gas supply passage through the gas circulation passage, with a gas-liquid separator for separating moisture from a circulating gas, with a means for calculating an internal residual amount of water in the electrolyte membrane, with a means for calculating an external residual amount of water in a path including the gas supply passage, the gas exhaust passage, and the gas circulation passage and leading to the electrodes, and with a control means for driving the gas drive means until the end of operation time based on the internal residual amount of water and the external residual amount of water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
