PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a rotating body which rotates a color filter which switches light output from a light source into red (R), green (G) and blue (B) at high speed. SOLUTION: A filter unit 22 with damping material is so formed that a nearly fan-shaped filter 56 having an angle approximately 60 degrees is fixed to a holder 10 with an adhesive, a damping material A13 and a damping material B16 having a damping effect for the filter 56 are fixed to a filter unit 11 so as to be brought into contact with or press-fitted to the face of the filter 56 by a damping material holder A12 and a damping material holder B15, respectively, the filter unit 22 with the damping material is fixed to a hub 6 rotated by the rotation of a motor, with the adhesive, thus a rotating body is constituted to rotate the filter 56 by the rotation of the motor.
