PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight of a normal and reverse rotation switching device for switchingly transmitting normal rotation and reverse rotation to an output shaft. SOLUTION: A sun gear 11 is fixed to an input shaft 2 rotated in one direction, a first pinion 13 and a second pinion 14 are incorporated in between the sun gear 11 and a ring gear 12, and a carrier 15 rotatably supporting the first pinion 13 and the second pinion 14 is integrated with the output shaft 3. The ring gear 12 is connected with the carrier 15 by a clutch 20 to rotate the output shaft 3 in the same direction as the input shaft 2, and the ring gear 12 is connected with a housing 1 by the clutch 20 to rotate the output shaft 3 in the reverse direction to the input shaft 2. A meshing clutch is used as the clutch 20 for switching the rotating direction, whereby reduction in size and weight of the normal and reverse rotation switching device is attained.
