A scraper for removing algae from the walls of aquaria, water-containing tanks and bottle-gardens includes a plate hingedly connected to a handle and having one of its surfaces formed with at least one ridge. The plate may be of rubber or plastics material and be triangular, square, lozengeshaped, or oval in plan and formed with a series of ridges parallel to the periphery of the plate. In a further construction the plate 1<SP>1</SP> has parallel ridges 7<SP>1</SP> on a rear portion, a slot 14 for receiving a razor blade 16 in a front portion, and a foamed plastics pad 18 between the ridges 7<SP>1</SP> and the blade 16 for removing algae loosened by the scraper blade 16. |
