TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING METHOD AND APPARATUS CANCELING OTHER CELL INTERFERENCE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

A transmitting/receiving method for canceling neighbor cell interference in a wireless communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to improve the reception and handover performance of mobile terminals, located at the boundary area between BSs(Base Stations), by canceling interference signals of neighbor BSs in an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system. A transmitter in a BS for canceling neighbor cell interference comprises a symbol generator, a resource mapper, and a spreader. The symbol generator creates modulation symbols to be transmitted. The resource mapper maps the modulation symbols to an identical resource block between neighbor BSs and allocates them. The spreader spreads the allocated modulation symbols by using a BS-specific code allocated to the BS. In this case, the BS-specific code has orthogonality or quasi-orthogonality to the BS-specific codes which are allocated to the neighbor BSs.
