A scanning device and an image forming device including the same are provided to differently control a moving speed for moving a scanning head to a home position according to the position of the scanning head. A position recognizer(21) is formed on a stage glass(20) along a moving direction of the scanning head(30). A head position recognizer(35) recognizes the position of the scanning head by recognizing the position of the position recognizer when a scanning signal is received. A controller(70) enables the scanning head to move to the home position at the faster speed than a reference speed if the recognized position of the scanning head is separated from the home position over a predetermined distance. The position recognizer includes a position recognition mark formed by at least one of a character or a number recognizable to the scanning head. The stage glass includes an actual scanning area and an effective scanning area corresponding to both ends of a scanning sensor. The position recognizer is installed to the effective scanning area.
