PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably recognize the terminal part of already recorded user data by utilizing a marker such as an intermediate marker. SOLUTION: An information recording device (200) is provided with a first recording means (353) recording the user data in user data areas (105, 115) provided to an information recording medium (100), a second recording means (353) recording the marker following the terminal part of the already recorded user data, a format means (354) performing format processing for the information recording medium, and erasing means (354) erasing the marker recorded by the second recording means before format processing is performed, when the format processing is performed.
