PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely match colors of a color counter on a sensor substrate side and a color counter on a main substrate side with each other. SOLUTION: An image reader is equipped with a sensor substrate having a line sensor which reads in pixels each consisting a plurality of color signals in line units and a main substrate which performs image processing for a read-in pixel group. The sensor substrate has a color signal clock generating means of generating clocks in color signal units, a sensor color counting means of counting color positions of the color signal clocks, and an image pattern output means of outputting a prescribed image pattern signal. The main substrate has a main color counting means of counting color positions of input color signal clocks and a color position adjusting means of inputting the image pattern signal and adjusting the color positions of the main color counting means.
