PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound useful as an intermediate for producing a biphenylalanine compound. SOLUTION: The biphenylmethylhydantoin compound is represented by formula (1) (R1and R2are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or the like). The method for producing a biphenylmethylhydantoin compound (1) comprises reducing a biphenylmethylenehydantoin compound (2).
