PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door device which can reduce the width of an upper rail and is mountable on a mounting portion with good finishing in a manner conforming to various limiting conditions. SOLUTION: The sliding door device has a sliding door main body for opening/closing an opening section, and a sliding door support means for horizontally movably supporting the sliding door main body. The sliding door support means has a horizontally extending upper rail, and a runner attached to the sliding door main body. The upper rail is formed of a vertically extending center web, and right and left traveling flanges almost horizontally extending from lower edges of the center web on both sides of the same only through a small width. The runner is formed of a U-shaped base body fixed to the sliding door main body, and right and left wheels arranged on respective side pieces inside the U-shaped base body. Then when the wheels of the runner roll on the traveling flange of the upper rail, the sliding door main body is supported and induced by the upper rail and horizontally moved along the same.
