<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a jam clear unit of a drawable type that excels in jam clear performance and is less likely to cause a crossing jam. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises an apparatus main body 1 in which a sheet conveyance path is formed, the sheet conveyance path including a main conveyance path R2, an inverting conveyance path R4, and a reconveyance path R5; and a jam clear unit 38 integrated including at least a registration roll 21, a heat fixing roll 24, an inverting roll 28, and conveyance rolls 29 to 31 and drawable from the apparatus main body 1. In the image forming apparatus, the sheet conveyance path is formed from a three-layer structure composed of the main conveyance path R2 as the upper layer, the reconveyance path R5 as the middle layer, and the inverting conveyance path R4 as the lower layer. The inverting conveyance path R4 is formed by the bottom of the jam clear unit 38 and the partition 37 of the apparatus main body, which is opposite the bottom.
