PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contact of a connecting pin with an inner wall of a slider, in a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: Action of a control shaft 32 is transmitted to a slider gear 43 via the connecting pin 44 and a bushing 46 in the variable valve gear 30 for the engine, and the slider 43 is driven in an axial direction with interlocking with the control shaft 32. The bushing 46 is provided in a circumference groove 43d of the slider gear 43. The connecting pin 44 is inserted in a pin insertion hole 46a formed on the bushing 46 and a through hole 32a formed on the control shaft 32, and the bushing 46 is connected to the control shaft 32 via the connecting pin 44. A regulating projection 46b is provided on the bushing 46 not to make the connecting pin 44 project to the slider gear 43 side further than a surface 46c of the bushing 46 in the slider gear 43 side.
