This invention relates to short triple-helical collagen peptides that are recognised by VWF A3 domain and which consist of the sequence N₁RGX₃X₄GX₅X₆GX₇N₂, wherein; X₃ is any amino acid except G, X₄ is O or P, X₅ is any amino acid except G or A, X₆ is any amino acid except G, X₇ is any amino acid except G or A, and; N1 and N2 are amino acid sequences consisting, independently, of 0 to 10 amino acid residues. Peptides described herein may be useful in the treatment of thrombosis and the diagnosis of bleeding disorders, as well as in the construction of synthetic collagens.
