PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like or strip-like polarizer having a wide width. SOLUTION: The wide strip optical polarizer is prepared by extruding glass and stretching the extruded glass to thereby elongate polarizing metals or metal salts within the glass. It is made possible to form a polarizer having a width of 300 mm or more depending on the size of a die used.
