A wire cutting tool comprises two pivotally connected arms 12, 14, one arm having a series of small through apertures 30 arranged in a pattern and the other arm having a large through aperture 40, the arms being relatively movable from a first position wherein the large aperture is in alignment with and encompasses the small apertures, to a second position wherein the large aperture is out of alignment with the pattern of small apertures. The pattern of small apertures is of the same orientation as the wire ends 52 extending from a component from which the wires are to be cut, the movement of the arms from the first to the second position effects shearing of the wires by the large aperture as it passes over the surface containing the pattern of small apertures. A gauging member 36 is provided on the arm containing the pattern of apertures to effect control of the length of the wire to be cut. A plurality of small aperture patterns with their corresponding co-operating large apertures may be provided on the tool arms. In an alternative embodiment the aperture pattern may have the apertures transversely displaced so that the wire ends inserted in the tool are cut and bent so as to have a larger spacing relationship than the spacing of the wires emerging from the component.</p> |
